Post Secret

Post Secret

Have you ever heard of Post Secret? If you haven’t, become enlightened because it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Started by Frank Warren in 2005 Post Secrets was created to let people anonymously submit post cards & letters of original art work revealing their deepest darkest secrets.

Have you ever met someone who you thought was really interesting, closed off, and mysterious? You just want to pick their brains, learn of their life’s history, and explore all that’s hidden away in the corridors of their mind.

I often have this feeling. I visualize myself crawling inside a person’s ear and walking down a slippery slope to a control center in the middle of their head. When I get there I’ll find an old school library catalog. I’ll sift through its contents until I find the information I’m looking for. Then I’ll continue my journey down dark, warm, and pulsing hallways, opening up rooms stacked with boxes and sometimes projectors playing memories. Occasionally I’ll find old shoeboxes filled with love lettersor piles of bound paper with diary like entries typed on the pages. Then… I come to reality and ask myself what I would do if I held the key to someone’s secrets? And honestly, I think I’d keep them for myself… No one knows how many people’s secrets I keep. And I’ve never told that to anyone. (Any of it. And no, I’m not dropping acid.)

PostSecret helps me realize that I’m not alone. It can be what keeps us from connecting with people that brings us together, no matter how weird & different you think you are. It’s okay to make yourself vulnerable. We’re all in this together.

What would you write? You don’t have to post it on here. It’s just interesting to think about.
